A bread box that opens like a drawer instead of lifting off a lid, so a loaf can be pulled out one-handed, even with damp or floury fingers. The tray glides on a low-friction runner and the front edge is shaped to grip.

Inside it measures 11 x 5 x 5 in (outside 13 x 5 x 5 in), which takes a sandwich loaf, a stack of bagels, buns or a sliced toast loaf. A silicone sealing ring plus latches on all four sides hold the airtight lid down, and that is what keeps a crust from turning leathery in a humid pantry.

Made from BPA-free polypropylene: clear, so you can see what is left; top-rack dishwasher safe; and freezer friendly to about -20 °C (-4 °F) for bake-and-freeze batches.
